Palace in Nielęgowo - "Villa Berlin"

Today it can no longer be overlooked: Uncovered with a new facade, the palace in Nielęgowo presents itself, also known regionally as Willa Berlińska Berlin Villa, as the German architect made reference to the Berlin villas of the turn of the century.

Hermann Lorenz, who took over the manor from his father Bernhard, had the present mansion built in 1902. Later, his brother, the Prussian district administrator Robert Lorenz, became the owner. Until the outbreak of World War II, the manor was one of the largest sugar beet suppliers for the sugar factory in neighboring Kościan (cost in the then Prussian province of Posen). In 1945, the last owner of the Nielęgowo estate fled to Hecklingen in Saxony-Anhalt, where he died in 1948.

In the Polish People's Republic the house was used as a kindergarten and communal housing. After 1990, the villa was abandoned for a long time under changing owners, but it survived this period of vacancy quite well. The main elements such as the decorative neo-rococo facade, the open entrance hall with wooden staircase and the original plank floors remained in good condition. The family coat of arms with the initials of Hermann Lorenz can be seen above the entrance portal. 

With great dedication, the new owners began the renovation and opened the house to guests while the work was still in progress: since 2017, the "Berlin Villa" has been a trendy place for gastronomic services.
